My little Mermaid
Here is a photo of me enjoying my first cuddle with my daughter moments after her birth in March 2009.
Her home water birth was such a magical experience, full of memories that I will hold in my heart forever, that I wanted to help other women achieve their dream birth. So, I decided to loan out the pool I gave birth in. The pool was named Bobbie after my little Mermaid.
Today, I have 200 birthing pools all across the UK and I am proud to say I have helped thousands of women to have a water birth like mine.
To continue the tradition, all 200 pools are named after our customers babies. Don’t forget to tell us what name you chose for your baby so we can name a pool after them too.
I often feel sad when talking to customers that have had negative or traumatic birth experiences. So in 2011, I trained as a Doula.
I was trained by Kicki Hansard ‘Doula of the Year 2009’ and my mentor, for the first year was Nicola Wilson, Vice Chair of Doula UK. This is what my Mentor said about me: “It is not often one comes across a truly humble and natural doula, but she is one.”
Since then, I have had the honor of supporting many home and hospital births, wherever and however my clients wished to give birth.
I have even supported birthing pool clients when their home birth plans have had to change. This is why I have included pages about Gentle Caesarean and Re-birth on this website.
I love hearing about every single birth, no matter what path it takes, and seeing photos of the precious first moments our customers spend with their babies. It inspires me to continue doing what I do. So please do send me a photo and tell me how you got on.
